The fountain was initially erected at the intersection of three roads (tre vie), marking the end point of Acqua Vergine, one of the oldest aqueducts that had supplied the city of Rome since the year 19 BC. The monument that we can admire today was planed by Nicola Salvi, and was completed in 1762 by Giuseppe Panini, shortly after the death of the Pope Clement, when Pietro Bracci's Neptune was posted in the central niche of the fountain. It is one of the most emblematic places in Rome. In cinema, the fountain was immortalized by a scene starring Anita Ekberg and Marcello Mastroianni in the 1960 film "LA DOLCE VITA", directed by Federico Fellini. The fountain is lit up at night. The Tokyo Subway is a part of the extensive rapid transit system that combines the Tokyo Subway and Subway Toei in the Greater Tokyo, Japan area. The hiking trail that we suggest starts on the south side of the D. Luis I bridge, in Gaia, and extends along approximately six kilometers, to the Interpretative Center of the Local Nature Reserve of the Douro Estuary. It is a route completely parallel to the Douro river, which allows you to admire the riverside vocation of Porto and Gaia, the old industrial archeology as well as the recovered ones.
