Portuguese synagogue in Amsterdam. After the expulsion of Jews from Spain by the "Catholic Kings" and around the year 1596, many Portuguese families of Jewish descent, tired of oppression in Portugal and desiring to return to openly practice their religion, headed for Amsterdam. The Iberian Jews (the so-called Sephardi) in the Netherlands obtained the status of educated people with a reflection on local life, whether in commercial, scientific or artistic life. The Synagogue was built in 1675 and is a Baroque building, where, in addition to religious ceremonies, you can attend concerts and cultural events. Portuguese Jews played an important role in the cultural and economic development of the Republic of the Netherlands. There they enjoyed the freedom of worship and expression, enviable by most Jews in the rest of the world. The Portuguese Jewish community would produce many figures of national and international renown, rabbis, scholars, philosophers, bankers, founders of international trade companies: Gracia Nasi, Isaac de Pinto, David Ricardo, Menasseh ben Israel, Isaac Aboab da Fonseca, Uriel Acosta, Baruch de Espinoza, among others.

Pablo Neruda [1914-1973] was born Neftali Ricardo Reyes Basoalto, but adopted his pen name legally in 1946, He began building the Isla Negra house in 1953, for Matilde Urrutia, who would become his wife after the poet divorced Delia del Carrilera. The Tokyo Subway is a part of the extensive rapid transit system that combines the Tokyo Subway and Subway Toei in the Greater Tokyo, Japan area. Although the metro system itself is largely in the center of the city, the lines remain extend via extensive services to suburban rail lines. There are 13 lines and 285 stations. The porcelain paste is composed by mixing in varying proportions of kaolin, quartz and feldspar. Kaolin, pure and highly refractory clay, is responsible for giving the paste translucency and whiteness.
